Mavis Staples bij Jeff Tweedy
Zangeres Mavis Staples vergezelde Jeff Tweedy afgelopen winter in Wilco's studio in Chicago, The Loft. Hier schreef Tweedy twee nieuwe nummers voor de soul/gospel legende en produceerde haar aankomende album You Are Not Alone. Advertentie
“I have almost everything she’s ever recorded, and I dug back through very thoroughly when I was given this job to do,” zegt Tweedy. “I thought that if I refreshed myself about where she’s been, it would help her figure out where she wanted to go. I wanted to be sure that we were making a record that she really wanted to make.”
Het titelnummer You Are Not Alone is geschreven door Tweedy. Het is een zeer persoonlijk nummer voor Mavis, waar ze zelfs lichtelijk bij moest huilen. Ze had haar vader in gedachten toen ze het nummer zong. Tweedy schreef ook het politiek getinte Only the Lord Knows.
De Europese tourdata zullen binnenkort bekend worden gemaakt.
