RATM in strijd met X-factor om No.1 positie

In Engeland woedt op dit moment een bijzondere strijd om de koppositie in de charts tijdens kerst. Normaliter zou deze plek haast zeker vergeven worden aan Joe McElderry, de Britse winnaar van het programma The X-factor van Simon Cowell.
De actie die geïnitieerd werd op Facebook heeft inmiddels de goedkeuring gekregen van de band. Gitarist Tom Morello van RATM: "People are tired of being spoon fed one schmaltzy ballad after another. They want to take back their own charts. We're honoured they've chosen our song to be the rebel anthem to topple The X Factor monopoly.”
Vandaag kreeg de actie ook de steun van Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl: “There's some music that I question its intention. When people rise up and decide, 'Hey man, I'm sick of this, let's derail this other thing for something real' I'm all for it.”
